Gmail Update 2025: Material 3 Redesign and “Mark as Read” Feature Rolled Out
According to a report by 9to5Google, the Material 3 design was first unveiled in June, and now it has been integrated into Gmail’s search bar.
With this update, the hamburger menu button and profile switcher have been removed from the browser, making the search view more streamlined and user-friendly. However, this new design is not yet available to all users.
In addition, Gmail’s Android app has received a new feature called “Mark as Read.” This feature, which had been under testing since June, is now being rolled out to all users.
A new button has been added between the delete and reply options, allowing users to select emails and mark them as read without opening or deleting them.
According to the report, the purpose of this feature is to provide convenience to users who neither want to read certain emails nor delete them.
Beyond Gmail, Google continues to celebrate important global occasions, festivals, events, and world figures through creative changes in its Google Doodles, honoring achievements and milestones across the globe.
Very last thought
Gmail’s latest updates show Google’s commitment to making email management simpler, faster, and more user-friendly. The Material 3 redesign ensures a modern and intuitive interface, while the Mark as Read button helps users save time and stay organized. As these updates roll out worldwide, Gmail is set to remain one of the most reliable and user-focused email services in 2025 and beyond.
